Survivors series two DVD release date published

Both Play.com and HMV are listing the series two Survivors DVD for pre-order with a scheduled release date of Monday 8 February 2010.

Series one of Survivors was released on DVD on Monday 26 January 2009, less than a month after the transmission of series one concluded on BBC One and BBC HD. However, the 8 February 2010 release date for the series two DVD must surely remain provisional, pending the confimation of the transmission dates for the new series.

Survivors series one: DVD reviews

Reviews of the first series of Survivors DVD release appear in SFX (No 180, March 2009), SciFi Now (Issue 25, February-March 2009) and DeathRay (No 17, February-March 2009). DeathRay’s Guy Haley concludes his review with a call to the BBC to: “Bring it back as soon as, Auntie, because this is the best SF treat you’ve given us in in years.”

Julie Graham on GMTV this morning

As part of the promotional work to support the release of the first series of the new Survivors on DVD (the three-disc set was released yesterday), actress Julie Graham (Abby Grant) was interviewed on the GMTV programme on ITV1 this morning.

The online video of her appearance omits the brief extract from episode one that was shown as part of the live broadcast of the programme.

The first series of the new Survivors is released on DVD tomorrow – Monday 26 January 2009.

Online video trailers to promote the release have been added to the Play and Amazon listings for the DVD. The Amazon promo can be viewed below:

Survivors DVD ads in genre press

Full-page, full-colour adverts for the upcoming Survivors first-series DVD release are appearing in the genre press (see example illustration below).

The adverts confirm the special features of the release as:

The DVD is still scheduled for release on 26 January 2009.

Cover artwork for Survivors DVD sleeve confirmed

The BBC Shop is displaying the finalised cover design for the three-disc Survivors DVD set. The sleeve is based on the original motorway-set promotional group shot, and features Abby, Greg and Tom as its principal characters (see below). The release date is set at 26 January 2008, with an RRP of £29.35 (fractionally down on the previously announced figure) – though several online retailers (including the BBC Shop) are discounting this for pre-orders.

The release date for the three-disc DVD of the first series of the new Survivors (which was previously announced as 5 January) has now been confirmed as 26 January 2009.

The release is listed for pre-order on Amazon; the BBC shop, and on other online retailers. The listed price is £29.99, though several retailers are discounting this to less than £18.00 (for pre-order).

BBC shop lists January release for new Survivors DVD

The BBC online shop is advertising a two-disc DVD of new Survivors with a release date of 5 January 2009 and a retail price of £29.99. The release number is given as: bbcdvd2812.

If this date is not revised, then the DVD release will follow within a couple of weeks of the transmission of the sixth and final episode of the first series.

The promotional description reads:
