The first two episodes of a new ten-part Belgian ‘viral thriller’ air on BBC Four this evening (27 June 2015, 21:00-22:40). Cordon follows the plight of a group of Antwerp residents who find themselves sealed off as authorities attempt to contain the spread of a killer virus.
Cordon is a new series from Belgium. Everyday life in the centre of Antwerp comes to a sudden standstill when the area is hermetically sealed off from the outside world. The cause is a contagious and deadly virus which spreads like wildfire.
The people trapped inside the cordon are suddenly left to their own devices. It brings out the very best in them, but also the worst… Cordon will be broadcast on BBC Four from Saturday 27th June.
BBC Four will air the remaining eight episodes on Saturday evenings (from 4 July). On 2 February 2015, the American The CW channel announced that it had commissioned the pilot for an American remake of Cordon renamed as Containment, set in the US city of Atlanta. A full series was given the go ahead on 7 May 2015.

Today (2 June 2015) genre audiobook producers Big Finish release the second series of audio adventures set in the time and place of Terry Nation’s original 1970s Survivors TV series: containing four new episodes, available on CD and as a digital download.
Please note: these adventures are NOT set in the world of the 2008-2010 remake of Survivors, but in the world of the original 1975 series; featuring original TV series actors Carolyn Seymour, Lucy Fleming, Ian McCulloch and Richard Heffer and a range of new characters.
The first series of award-nominated Survivors audio adventures was released – to a great critical reception – in June 2014; and as Big Finish release the second installment, they have already committed to releasing a total of five series by the end of 2016: meaning that, at a minimum, twenty new original Survivors stories will be produced in audio format. In addition, in December 2014, Big Finish released an unabridged audiobook version of Terry Nation’s 1976 Survivors novel, voiced by Carolyn Seymour (who played the original Abby Grant).
There’s an excellent opportunity to ‘test out’ these new audio adventures completely free: by downloading the first episode of series one Revelation; which Big Finish are now making available at no cost.
“It begins with just a few people falling ill. Another flu virus that spreads around the globe. And then the reports begin that people are dying… When most of the world’s population is wiped out, a handful of survivors are left to pick up the pieces. Cities become graveyards. Technology becomes largely obsolete. Mankind must start again…”
