The Total SciFi site’s Paul Simpson has posted (3 March 2010) a report from a set visit he made during the latter stages of the filming of Survivors second series in 2009. During the visit to various locations, Simpson interviews Phillip Rhys (Al), Chahak Patel (Najid) and showrunner Adrian Hodges – who concludes:
“In some ways we feel that we’ve barely begun with Survivors, but in other ways I have to accept that this might be its final series… What I’ve tried to do with this series is give a satisfying conclusion so that if it proves to be the last episode, at least it will feel like a series that has finished in an appropriate way, but at the same time, almost every door is left open.”

The print TV listings magazines have, between them, previewed Survivors second series extensively. Coverage includes:
- ‘The viral countdown’ (Total TV Guide)
- ‘The last action heroes’ (TV & Satellite Week)
- ‘Apocalypse now?’ (TV Quick)
- ‘Abby’s lab terror’ (What’s On TV)
- ‘Pick of the Day: Survivors’ (Radio Times)
- ‘Survivors’ (TV Easy)
- ‘Pick of the Day: Survivors (TV Times)
The Radio Times once again takes the opportunity to sustain a proud thirty-five year long tradition by not granting Survivors front cover billing (and this time round not even dignifying the show with a feature). In sharp contrast, Total TV Guide makes Survivors second series its front cover lead (as it did with series one back in 2008).

The Digital Spy site has posted a Survivors series two preview interview with showrunner and lead script writer Adrian Hodges.
The interview, which was recorded during the Survivors series two press day in October – quite naturally – includes revelations about series two characters and plot developments which could be treated as ***SPOILERS***.
Thanks to the eagle-eyed Adrian H for spotting that this had been posted.

In an interview for the Total SciFi site showrunner and main scriptwriter Adrian Hodges discusses the reception of the first series of the new Survivors and his plans for series two.
There are no specific series two spoilers, but in the interview he reveals the following:
I read Terry Nation’s book very carefully, and I’ve read it again since, and I will read it again before I start working on the second series. There was a lot at the front of the book that I wanted to use directly or indirectly, and there was a lot in the second half that I wanted to use, but over a long period of time…
We will be resolving the cliffhanger relatively quickly, at least one part of it… All the characters are coming back, but I can’t say for sure how long Paterson [Joseph (Greg Preston)] is back for because that’s the cliffhanger…
[A]s the structure of the world begins to disintegrate, you’ll see more of the world collapsing. It will gradually become more tribal, in the sense that people will form alliances and groups.

The BBC’s BBC Writers’ Room blog includes a post by Piers Beckley, introducing interviews by scriptwriters Adrian Hodges and Gaby Chiappe, who both discuss their craft on the programme.
Beckley also announces that, to assist would-be scriptwriters in understanding how to translate ideas to screen-ready telescripts, the full-script for the first episode of Survivors will be uploaded to the BBC Writers’ Room site and available on Monday 24 November. Budding scriptwriters can then compare the submitted script with the final televised version of the episode…
